If you’re looking for a breakfast that feels fancy but takes literally five minutes to make, this is it. These smoked salmon crackers with herby Greek yoghurt have been one of my absolute favourite go-to breakfasts for years, and once you try them, I think they’ll become yours too.

We’re talking creamy, garlicky yoghurt spread onto crispy seed crackers, topped with silky smoked salmon, tangy pickled onions, and a cloud of fresh dill. It looks like something you’d order at a brunch spot, but you can make it at home before your coffee has even finished brewing.
I always say that healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. This recipe is proof. Five ingredients you probably already have, five minutes of your time, and you’ve got a breakfast that’s beautiful, nourishing, and full of flavour.
It’s the kind of thing I make on busy weekday mornings when I want something that feels a little special but I simply don’t have time for anything elaborate. It’s also perfect for a lazy weekend brunch when you want to impress without the effort.
Why I Love This Recipe
I’m all about meals that are quick, nutritious and genuinely delicious — and this one ticks every single box. Here’s why it’s on constant rotation in my kitchen:
It’s ready in 5 minutes. No cooking, no faff. Just mix, spread, and top. It honestly couldn’t be simpler.
It’s high in protein. Between the Greek yoghurt and the smoked salmon, this little plate packs a serious protein punch. Protein at breakfast helps keep you full for longer, stabilises blood sugar levels, and reduces the urge to snack before lunch. A win all round.
It’s rich in Omega-3. Smoked salmon is one of the best dietary sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health, brain function, and inflammation reduction. Starting your day with omega-3 is honestly one of the simplest upgrades you can make.
It’s got a great fibre boost. I use Ryvita seed crackers here (they’re my favourite for this), and they’re a brilliant source of fibre to keep your digestion happy. Fibre first thing in the morning? Yes please.
It’s Mediterranean-inspired and genuinely good for you. This is the kind of eating I love — real ingredients, big flavour, no complicated techniques.

A Few Tips & Swaps
- No fresh dill? Dried dill works in a pinch, just use a little less (about ¼ tsp).
- Make it dairy-free: Swap the Greek yoghurt for dairy-free alternative.
- Add some heat: A tiny pinch of chilli flakes on top takes this to another level.
- Crackers: Any seeded cracker works beautifully here. I love Ryvita for the crunch and the fibre content, but feel free to use whatever you have.
- Pickled onions: You can use shop-bought or make a quick version by soaking thinly sliced red onion in red wine vinegar and a pinch of sugar for 10 minutes. The acidity cuts through the richness of the salmon perfectly.
Is Smoked Salmon Good for You?
Yes! Smoked salmon is rich in high-quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids (particularly EPA and DHA), B vitamins, and selenium. It’s also naturally low in carbohydrates, making it a brilliant option if you’re looking for balanced, nutrient-dense meals. Paired with the probiotics in Greek yoghurt and the fibre in seeded crackers, this breakfast genuinely supports your gut health, energy levels, and satiety all at once.
Storage
Fridge: Best eaten fresh for maximum crunch. You can store cooked the ingredients separately in an airtight container in the fridge and assemble the toast just before serving.
