Over the past few years — and very much this year too — my goal with food has been simple: to follow science-based evidence for longevity, inspired by Blue Zone living, and to build meals around fibre-rich, real ingredients.
Why fibre? Because it’s one of the most powerful (and underrated) things we can eat more of. A fibre-rich diet supports gut health, helps keep blood sugar stable, feeds our good gut bacteria, and keeps us feeling fuller and more energised — all things that matter for long-term health, not just January resets.
And the best part? Some of the most naturally high-fibre meals already exist in traditional cuisines — especially Italian home cooking. Beans, lentils, vegetables, bread, slow simmering… it’s food that was never designed to be “healthy”, yet ticks every box.
So today I wanted to round up 5 high-fibre, cosy soups that are perfect for January. They’re simple, warming, deeply nourishing, and rooted in that Italian “real food” philosophy — with a few Healthyfloflo twists along the way.

All five are: ✔ High in fibre
✔ One-pan ✔ Easy to make ✔ Budget-friendly ✔ Perfect for batch cooking and leftovers
If January ever feels long, grey, or a bit sluggish — start with soup. It’s one of the simplest ways to eat well without overthinking it.
I’d love to know which one you’ll make first, or if there’s a soup you grew up eating that still feels like home to you.
If you make one, tag me on Instagram @healthy_floflo or Facebook— I’d love to see your creations!
