Let’s make overnight oats extra special with one simple trick: blend your strawberries first. Instead of stirring in chopped fruit at the end, this version starts with a quick strawberry smoothie that soaks into the oats overnight — making the texture creamier and the flavour so much more intense. Think fresh strawberries, maple syrup, lemon juice, and milk, blended and poured over oats and chia seeds. It’s like a fruity pudding that happens to be good for you.
This is the kind of breakfast that feels like a treat but is secretly balanced, high in fibre, and perfect for meal prep. I always finish mine with a spoonful of yoghurt and some extra strawberries for a satisfying, feel-good start to the day. If you love strawberries or you’re looking for a refreshing twist on a classic, this one’s for you.

What Are Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are a no-cook breakfast made by soaking raw oats in milk or yoghurt (or both) and leaving them in the fridge overnight. By morning, the oats absorb the liquid, soften, and turn into a creamy, pudding-like texture — no cooking required!
They’re perfect for busy mornings because you prepare everything the night before. You can customise them with fruit, seeds, nut butters, or spices, and enjoy them straight from the fridge or slightly warmed up.
5 Reasons to Add Overnight Oats to Your Morning Routine
- Time-saving: Prep once and breakfast is ready for up to 3 days.
- High in fibre: Oats and chia seeds are great for digestion and help keep you full.
- Balanced and nourishing: Add yoghurt, fruit, and seeds for a complete meal.
- Customisable: Easily adapted to different flavours and dietary needs.
- Budget-friendly: Made with simple, wholesome ingredients you probably already have at home.
Tips
- Blend it fresh: Blending the strawberries with milk, maple syrup, and lemon makes a flavour-packed base for your oats.
- Save a few berries: Set aside 2–3 strawberries to chop and stir in for extra texture.
- Don’t skip the lemon: It brightens the flavour and keeps the strawberries fresh.
- Yoghurt on top: Add it just before serving to avoid separation and keep the texture creamy.
Swaps
Strawberries: Use raspberries or a mix of berries if strawberries aren’t in season.
Maple syrup: Swap for honey or agave.
Chia seeds: You can use ground flaxseeds, though the texture will change slightly.
Milk: Any milk works — oat, almond, soy, or dairy.
Yoghurt: I love plain Greek yoghurt, but coconut or soy yoghurt works too for a dairy-free version.
Storage
Fridge: Store in a sealed jar or container for up to 3 days. Add the yoghurt and fresh toppings just before serving.
Freezer: Not suitable — the oats and berries won’t hold up well once thawed.
