Tips

  • Add a Spice Kick: Incorporate a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger to the pear filling for extra depth of flavour. It gives a warm, aromatic touch.
  • Sweetness Level: Pears naturally have sweetness, so you can adjust the amount of sugar in the filling depending on your preference for sweetness.
  • Serving Ideas: Serve the crumble warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a dollop of Greek yoghurt. It adds a creamy balance to the warm, fruity filling.

Swaps

Coconut oil: Olive oil or butter – use what you have or prefer.

Oats: Crushed nuts or spelt flakes – for a grain-free or different texture.

Coconut: Ground almonds or chopped nuts – adds flavour and crunch.

Honey: Maple syrup or date syrup – works just as well for sweetness.
