Tips
- Crumble finely: Break the cornflakes into small crumbs by hand to get an even, crunchy coating.
- Air fryer magic: Use the air fryer to keep the chicken juicy inside and crispy outside without extra oil.
- Sauce timing: Let the hot honey sauce thicken slightly on the stove for a glossy finish and richer flavour.
- Even coating: Dip the chicken pieces in egg first, then press into cornflakes firmly to ensure they stick well.
- Don’t overcrowd: Cook in batches if needed to allow hot air to circulate for the crispiest results
Swaps
Chicken: Use turkey breast or firm tofu for a plant-based option (press and dry tofu well before coating).
Cornflakes: Use crushed gluten-free cereal or crushed nuts for extra crunch.
Hot sauce: Swap with sriracha or a milder chilli sauce if you prefer less heat.
Honey: Use maple syrup or agave nectar for a vegan version.
Storage
Fridge: Store cooked chicken tenders in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven to keep them crispy.
Freezer: Freeze cooked tenders for up to 1 month in a freezer-safe container. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat thoroughly before eating.
