Upside Down Apple Danish

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 apples, sliced very thin
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, cut into 8 rectangle 
  • honey
  • cinnamon
  • 1 egg yolk
  • powdered sugar, optional (to dust the top)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Spoon or drizzle about 6 teaspoons of honey onto the paper, spacing them well apart.
  • Sprinkle a little cinnamon over each pool of honey, then layer 4–5 thin apple slices on top. Drizzle another teaspoon of honey over the apples.
  • Place a rectangle of puff pastry over each apple stack and gently press down the edges with a fork to seal.
  • Brush the tops with egg yolk for a golden finish, then bake for about 12 minutes, until puffed and beautifully golden.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then dust with icing sugar before serving.
